DANG IT.

There's a pattern here, you know; I say "This is the campaign!" and then it don't work.

We're gonna start a Pathfinder game on a world where ship travel is vital (since I've had a long founded interest in ships), and the layers are rampant adventurers that have somehow acquired a small vessel and crew. What are they gonna do? Your guess is as good as mine! I have a few ideas in mind for locations, but I've decided to abandon any set story; instead, they'll be able to find and become a part of whatever story they want. As they explore, I'll build the world around them and decide what they can do. My only idea going in is a generic world map and a few good locations!

Here are the players' ideas so far for characters:

Nick: Playing a Kobold Rogue

Joel: Playing a Gnome Cleric

Robert: Playing a Human Monk (he had an Elf Wizard at first, but when we did a trial run he realized he didn't like the spell system too much, I think)

Crazy Stuff Happened

Well, we had another session, and some serious bantha poodoo hit the fan.

**************************************************

Quigley and Trr'Chick received a mission from a golden dragon asking them to isolate a fungus creature that had landed on their world and could be a potential threat to the planet. One of her captains accompanied them to help out as well.

The adventure itself didn't get too much importance; the biggest thing was that during the mission Quigley and Trr'Chick got into such a bad conflict that they had to get their memories wiped so we could have a reason for them to not want to kill one another later on. Long story short, the captain turned out to be a traitor, though he was killed so it hardly mattered; the people he worked with couldn't get the fungus, and so just promised to return and cause trouble. The fungus escaped as it was sentient, and Quigley and Trr'Chick had a fight when Trr'Chick had a gun out around it. To make matters worse, Trr'Chick started lying about the situation, which caused him to become untrusted. In the end, the fungus escaped, so the had to burn half the forest to save the world; the PC's weren't involved in this, as their memories were wiped and they had to be retold of the whole ordeal.

They then had to negotiate with gaseous beings who wanted to land on the planet and build a space-railroad. Quigley started mimicking their accent, so he was shot and thrown into the brig. Also, there was a sentient cockroach queen that tried to take control of Trr'Chick; it failed, but Trr'Chick liked it anyways, so he gave them food. They then started riding rats and running around everywhere.

******************************************************

Honestly, the entire adventure was a fiasco (although the blame is likely mine for an underplanned adventure). I am currently considering shifting the campaign to something more suitable to the players after taking a poll of what the majority of the players want to do.

No Game This Weekend

Sadly enough, no one could join this weekend. I've been planning, but I can't post that just yet; I plan to have my players read this when they miss the game so we can spend less time going over it next session.

Not Alone!

Well, somebody I don't rightly know did something involving this little blog (gave it what's called a +1, apparently). Finally, now I can reasonably say that there is a "you (singular)" at least!

...

Carry on.

Lots of Stuff Happened.

Well, he had another game this weekend, so here's how it went:

The smaller ship needed refueling, losing the last of its power on the trip to the dark world. Deciding the colony also needed more supplies and control in general, Quigley Isstvan convinced the AI to call the nearby Dragon outpost to try and convince them to take over the colony. However, the negotiations went very poorly, and Taye was only just able to jump in and end the discussion. Isstvan was thrown in the brig by the AI since he had insulted her and been generally unpleasant, and he didn't get out until he was called to arms when the smaller ship was attacked by the Bush People (quick memo: The Plants are good, the Bushes are bad, the Trees are neutral, all of these being the different peoples of the world). They captured one of them who was wounded by the explosion but weren't able to fulfill negotiations, as he only screamed about killing everyone.

Next, there was the arrival of Sir Laurence Thornside and Thomas Millford, being delegates from the remnants of Isstvan's old world (The Skarilian Knights); Sir Thornside was particularly unpleasant, not liking Isstvan, but Millford was reasonable and conveyed that the Skarilian Knights planned to utilize this colony.

::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
At this point, Robert (Quigley Isstvan) left, and I went on with Taye.
::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

Taye had the droids build a couple of houses out of wood at the suggestion of Millford, and had to hold off an attack from the Bush People. There were some hostages taken, but that night loud noises and a dangerous proximity alert made Taye release them all into the forest; it turned out, however, that it was actually a pair of giant dinosaurs fighting off in the distance. The next day, Bunyip (the male Plant Person who lives at the colony, his wif being Krossa and his son being Lone) went out to gather meat from the dead dinosaur and a large amount of food was stored.

Millford also suggested bringing in some colonists, specifically twelve Losians that needed relocation. Losian look like long, thin creatures that I like to describe as an almost possum-like creature. There were two families--one of four and one of eight--and they took quickly to helping build homes and do any work necessary. Taye declared one to be leader of the Losians as well, and they settled down rather well.

Taye then received a letter saying to go to O7 Station using the Teleportation Nexus in the ship (they had mostly forgotten about it, really). Upon arriving, he found a slave port filled with Losians. He also learned from some weirdo standing nearby that they were bred to be servile and to reproduce quickly. Taye also met another of his kind and transferred memories with him, learning that he freed slaves. The other droid told him that he was likely meant to see the Losians slaves to get understanding of the Losian colonists in some way. That very night, the other droid also released many slaves, and Taye found one in his room the next morning. He took the elf (it was an elf, by the way) back with him to the colony, and the guy seemed to prefer the company of Sir Thornside.

Thornside also continuously said that he now controlled the military of the colony, and specified that this meant he'd control the militia and such and was basically the general. There was a lot of arguing on this point.

Taye tried to negotiate with the Bush People, but it went poorly and three droids died when they found a camp with five of them. They also responded to a distress call from a ship that crashed to the north; upon entering the behemoth of a wreckage they found more of the insectoid warriors (called Irkkkndids[pronounced ee-rik-ki-ki-nids]) from previously stalking around; they fought them off, then got to the blackroom where the survivors (a species called the Skrssk[pronounced skrissk], which are like big ants with more rounded and bodies) were. They were able to blow up a wall in the ship to escape the army of Irkkkndids within, but by doing so also released the bugs into the world.

Taye and party got back to the ship, and the Skrssk gave them some supplies as a thank you before using the Nexus to leave the planet.

******************************************************************

And so we left off. See you next week!

First Game 2.0!

First off, I'll give a recap of what Taye did (that's both his real and player name, in fact):

He met their employer, Virmalus, on the world of Fallis Physyria, in an abandoned city in the desert (lots of ins). He was given orders to repair a vessel on the planet Epsilon Sigma 71B and then await further orders.

He arrived in an abandoned ship overcome with vegetation. He rebooted a nearby droid, setting himself as it's commander below the AI system, and explored around for a bit before repairing the generator (and dealing with pesky rodents). He also learned from the droid that the ship had been overrun by moving plants before the power shut off. With the power back, however, he was rerouted to the AI system, and had to go through a brief reboot process. The AI, Cassandria, had no memory of her mission, but was able to look up databases on the subject and get a basic understanding of the situation.

By now, Taye had learned the objective of the vessel; it was sent to explore and research the planet after a previous colonization effort from another nation had failed miserably. This mission itself was considered a failure after the communication was lost, but the ship persisted in its efforts. The local population was known to be very violent plant people that hated outsiders, but the ship still planned to make friendly relations with them.

Taye then met a group of natives that had started living in the ship, and soon became friendly with them. A translation device was set up to subconsciously teach them English, and they were put at friendly terms (they were a father, mother, and son, as well as two sprouts for future children).

There ws then an encounter where a group of tree people (riding a tree no less) came up and warned Taye not to harm the forest; otherwise, it would mean open war between them. He (the leader of them) then warned Taye that while he would accept an amount of deforestation so long as they replanted what they took, there were others who held the forest more reverently and would likely attack them for no reason. At this point there became a distinction between Tree People (slow thinking and powerful), Plant People (peaceful like the ones living in the ship), and Bush People (the violent ones).

:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

At this point, we went on Google Hangouts and played with the other two players.

:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

Quigley Isstvan (the king) and Trr'chik (the alien) arrived on Fallis Physyria and received there orders from Virmalus (basically the same as Taye's). They had to deal with a brief misunderstanding upon first arriving, but things settled down and they got to meet the AI. They discussed what to do next, and after Quigley was shot down repeatedly on the point of flying off to destroy the plants nearby and going to war with the plants (despite the AI's direct orders otherwise), they decided to get a ship from a nearby Tallan station (the Tallans having owned the ship before it was abandoned) so they could go get supplies. Taye hacked the databases to say that they needed a ship, and one was sent promptly.

When the ship arrived, the pilot turned out to be a fourteen year old boy (they still don't know his name). They got him to take them to a nearby planet so they could start mining and found the planet to be very cold and dark but covered in iron. After an hour of mining, however, they were confronted by a group of insectoid warriors. Trr'chik, understanding their language, knew they were saying they planned to kill them.

They fought off the warriors and escaped to the ship again...

******************************************

... And we left off.

See you again soon!

More Happenings

My cousin has joined in on the game as well; he's playing as a computer robot from an interesting race of machines. More on that at a later date. He works for the same guy, and has set up some of the groundwork for the game in a one-on-one game. This is because he'll likely play sporadically, and I'm trying to set it up so he can play with or without the group.

I can't say what he's accomplished just yet, because I don't want any of my players to stumble onto such information (one of my players is in my circles), but I'll tell you (singular) later.

Another Update:

Another player has come up with an idea for a character; he's going to be like a Xenomorph from Aliens, with some differences like sentience, more castes in the species, non-acidic blood, and what have you. He became an outcast when he broke out of the hivemind mumbo-jumbo, and now travels around helping people as a mechanic (specifically for mechs, powersuits, and other such similar things, but he does normal mechinics as well).

As for the other player, he was the illegitimate son of a lord who overthrew his father and eventually rose to king. His world was invaded by a space faring race, and was utterly decimated. The few that weren't slain or enslaved escaped to the stars, and began learning about the galaxy and helping other races under similar circumstances. The player, however, was kicked out by the leaders of this organization (the Skirilian Knights), as they didn't view him as a legitimate king, and now he travels and learns about the galaxy.

The players work for Virmalus, a mysterious man that wears a mask and wears concealing clothing at all times. He Speaks in a monotone, as well, and never explains why he has the players do things. However, he also always works for the good of the galaxy in general, and seems to have good intentions.

It Happens Every Other Day!

1: I forget to post.

2: I change my game idea.

Right now, the decision is to play in a sci-fi exploration game. I'll be sticking to this one, I swear!

By now, I assume I really am alone on this page; well, phoo! I don't care. I'll keep posting just to shake my fist in righteous fury at the condescending presence that is the World Wide Web. Interwebs be darned!

This game will allow the players to have some extra freedom; they can have whatever past they like, so long as the present is relatively humble. The only guy with a character idea yet was a king on a medieval world, but was thrown into the galaxy when his world was invaded.

This story is also open for anything to happen; you (singular sense; I'm sure you're the only one, if you're reading this) might come on one day to see dinosaurs ridden by magical robots! No, I'm not joking. I really want to do that now

Farewell for now, oh viewer (singular). I promise to return!

I feel so lonely out here...

If anyone's out there viewing this, I'd appreciate a notification of existence. Otherwise, I feel like I'm talking to cyberspace (and cyberspace is pretty unresponsive, let me tell you that).

Since I loath to post only to beg that someone speak to me (I was begging, by the way), I'll give an update. My group is postponing for a spell while my family moves, but I'm currently planning out for the WWII game I mentioned. I've decided to base it where the US has successfully invaded Normandy, but is having difficulty pushing in. Germany, through the use of inter-dimensional super soldiers, has defeated Russia already, making this a single-front war. Because of this, the fighting is much harder, with the Americans barely holding ground. This is where the C's come in; they work for API (the aforementioned Apocalypse Prevention, Inc.), a group that doesn't involve itself in wars unless extra-dimensionals (I'll call 'em aliens for simplicity's sake) are involved. Since Germany has enlisted the entire German branch of API, and now has a hoard of aliens at it's disposal, API must step in to suppress this threat, and try to keep the secret of aliens contained (which is unlikely, as all of Europe at least knows of Germany's super-troopers).

Basically, the PC's are fighting Germany in a back-alley war, while also solving all of the alien issues in Europe. It ought to be fun.

Blast It, I Forgot Again!

Well, I did it again; I left the blog. But at least I remembered to come back!

The reason is that my group stopped playing Star Wars due to a lack of interest, and when we started a new game, I was kind of disinterested. However, I recently came across an idea that I think will be immense fun: WWII with Magical Aliens!

You're still here? Okay, well, the idea comes from a game called Apocalypse Prevention, Inc., where the PC's are trying to protect the world from dangerous aliens-esque creatures, while also protecting the ones that need protecting (similar to Men in Black--in fact, it's practically a rip off, but it's much cooler!). Rather than modern times, though, I decided to set it in WWII, since I have a lot of interest in the time period. I played a quick game with my brother and friend, and we had a lot of fun despite zilch planning.

What will the game be like when my group plays? Who knows! I hope it's fun (obviously), and I'm excited to use some of my knowledge of foreign languages to put up some sense of realism.

Stay tuned!

Episode I, Part 2: Bursting In

After this last game, I found myself placing my face in my palms and slowly shaking side to side.

This time, we had a new player, Tristan. He has a Force Sensitive that received training from a Samurai-esque master who mysteriously disappeared. He is being chased by an even more mysterious organization.

The Happenings:

As the players prepared for their fight at the doors, Tristan appeared (I don't recall him giving his character a name, so well settle for Tristan) and helped in the ensuing skirmish. To their misfortune, the guards sounded the alarm during the fight, but the reinforcements were slow in their coming, so the PC's were able to get inside the palace itself (although it was more of a manor or mansion). Skeever and Sithar went into a room on the left, while Tristan went right. To the left, there was a butler, who, after refusing to help the PC's find Quaggo, was shot in the foot and stunned (I have very mature players, after all). To the right, there was a droid eating soup. The droid proceeded to recognize Tristan as an 'objective,' and tried to kill him. Tristan fled to the others, but was shot on the way out, resulting in a critical injury. He tore up the butler's shirt to get a little patch up, while the other two were confronted by the droid, demanding they stand aside. They did, and then shot him in the back. He was very injured, and, realizing he was beat, the droid initiated self destruct. The PC's dragged the butler to safety as the ran (and also stole the droid's gun) before the room they were in blew up.

As the PC's stood in the main room, the front wall then exploded (so many explosions!) as a walker began it's attack. The group retreated into the upstairs portion of the palace, and started searching rooms. The first room had piled up furniture and a man throwing lamps at them. When Skeever stuck a gun in the man's face and demanded to see Quaggo, it turned out that the man was the governor (Greeeeeat first impression).

The governor was informed of the situation, and decided that although the PC's were obviously savages worse than Quaggo's thugs, being worse than Quaggo's thugs meant they could beat Quaggo's thugs. Tristan escorted the governor out of the palace, hoping to get to a doctor for his wounds. The rest of the PC's were directed to Quaggo's room, and, as they approached, one of Quaggo's own guards stepped out, saw the PC's, and chucked a grenade.

The group took a nasty hit, but quickly burst into the room, killed the guards, and found Quaggo--a shriveled little Rodian with various deformities. Upon their demands for answers, Quaggo went into a frenzy of pleas for mercies and offers of various wealths. Skeever stunned Quaggo--which sent him into a seizure--and carried him out as soon as was convenient. Once out of the room, they saw some more of Quaggo's men, threatening to shoot them. They were told that the men had orders to protect Quaggo, but were willing to kill him if necessary to finish the PC's. After some tense, failed negotiations, Skeever chucked a stun grenade and took out most of them before Sithar took out the rest. They escaped out the emergency exit Tristan had already used, had a rendez vous with the governor, and had the police called in to take care of the remaining mercenaries.

The PC's were offered payment in the form of a droid, which was delivered to their ship via the governor's butler--the same butler Skeever had shot. There was some 'unpleasantry' with that conversation, but the PC's were eventually on their way (although I might add they spent a frustratingly long time joking about the butler; Tristan even aimed his sights on him and got arrested, which was assumed to be resolved by the governor).

::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

And thus ended Episode I!

As mentioned above, this session had some frustrations. The players were too easy with pointing guns at people, and their was way too much joking around for my tastes (they got into an argument over a joke scenario at one point). I hope in the future that things run more smoothly, although we may take a momentary break from the system and return to another game for a bit (I'll keep posted on that game, as well, if the need arises).

Quick Update

Just a quick update to tell you fine folks out there what we plan to do next:

1. The game is going to have the PC's running a homestead on a secluded planet where they can hide and produce some side revenue.

2. The PC's will be Force Sensitives who run around the galaxy helping people out and discovering the Force. This is the primary premise right now.

3. Eventually, the PC's might start playing different types of campaigns, such as working for the Rebels or possibly having to work for criminals for various reasons. The idea is that these characters will be the characters the players use in whatever campaign we play.

4. We generally play every Wednesday, so that's when you ought to expect a post. If you don't see one, I may have forgotten, so you ought to tell me so!

Episode I, Part 1: Touching Down

The Crew:

Skeever Aahs (played by Robert): Human Bounty Hunter, Force Sensitive. Skeever was raised by an ex-Jedi, but now his father is dead and his sister has grown distant when Skeever insulted her Rebellion.

Sithar (played by Nick): Gand Niman Disciple, Force Sensitive. Sithar worked with a crime organization for some time, until his family became threatened and he had to go off the grid.

The Mission:

The PC's have been told of a minor planet (single settlement kind of deal here) being repressed by a crime boss. They must land down and save the people of the planet from this wretched villainy!

The Happenings:

The PC's landed on the planet, having an unpleasant conversation with the Customs official over Skeever's Bounty Hunter nature, and proceeded into town. They were on their way to a restaurant to meet the employer when they witnessed an armed robbery of a store right in front of police. Seeing the situation, the noble heroes dove in to save the store--by which I mean they decided the robbers might have some nice bounties, and the store owner would pay a handsome fee for his rescue. After dealing with the thugs, the PC's were denied payment, and were soon taken down for questioning over the whole situation.

After being released by the police, who had grown uncomfortable of the group's questions concerning their inaction, the PC's headed to the restaurant, several hours late to their meeting. Luckily, they met their employer; unluckily, he was just a common towns person with no capacity of real payment other than assurance that the governor would likely reward them for their services. At this point, they learned that the town was being held by an agent of Black Sun, and that this man, named Quaggo, had shut down the planet's communication system and was repressing the people. The heroes reluctantly agreed to help, and went to the Governor's Palace to investigate.

The palace was found to be in the middle of town, surrounded by a guarded park. The PC's waited for night, then tried unsuccessfully to sneak in. After a brief stabbing, followed by a shooting, they stole ID cards from two recently deceased guards, and went to the palace doors. To their dismay, their were more guards waiting at the doors than on the perimeter, and upon checking their ID's, they noticed a oddity--they didn't match their carriers (really, how can a bug play off as a human?!). The guards drew their guns, and prepared for battle...

:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

...Aaaaaaaand we ran out of time.

Whelp, that's the beginning of "Episode I," I suppose. I hope you enjoyed it! I'll try to keep on top of this blog from now on, but if you see no activity for over a week, feel free to email me a slap in the face.

In the Volare Sector...

Hello, and welcome! I started this blog a while back, but couldn't keep up with it (I was only three posts in when I stopped!). However, now I plan to continue my goal of recording my Star Wars RPG games HERE!

*Sound triumphant music*

My current campaign is going to take place in the Volare Sector (a sector of my creation), where a utopian-esque society commands a sector of reluctant colonies. The player characters (or PC's) are Force Sensitives travelling through the Volare Sector. During their travels, the PC's will help and hinder many others in the galaxy; what becomes of them is entirely up to the decisions they make and the fate that comes with dice!
